Kevin Weeks is confident in the wet weather setup of his Supaloc Racing Lamborghini Gallardo after today’s two practice sessions for Round 6 of the Australian GT Championship at Mount Panorama, Bathurst.

After struggling with a lack of grip in the first practice session and setting the fifth-fastest time, the Supaloc Racing team adjusted the car and Weeks was a lot more comfortable in the second session, improving his lap-time despite the conditions deteriorating. He set the fourth-fastest time in the session.

“In the first session, we were on old wet weather tyres and we didn’t expect to be that competitive, because some of the other drivers used new tyres,” Weeks said. “It was very slippery and I had a couple of sideways moments.

“We changed to a full wet setup for the second session and used new tyres, and the car was really good. Even though the weather was terrible, the car had grip. The only problem was, the left-hand side of the windscreen fogged up and I couldn’t see the apexes of some of the corners. I had to come into the pits to have the screen cleared, but it fogged up again as soon as I went back out onto the track. We’ll use anti-fog tomorrow!

“Overall, I’m very happy with how we finished the day, and even if the weather is this bad for the rest of the weekend, I think we’ve got a good setup,” Weeks concluded.

Australian GT Championship qualifying will be held tomorrow afternoon at 3:40.
