Kevin Weeks is the 2011 Supaloc Classic Targa Adelaide Champion after eight final stages of intense competition today.

Weeks and his co-driver Toni Feaver finished on top of an all-Porsche podium, with Matt Selley finishing second, 3 minutes 17 seconds behind the Supaloc Racing Porsche 911 Carrera RS. Tolley Challis finished third, 16 seconds behind Selley.

In a great display of sportsmanship, Weeks has paid tribute to Tony Quinn. Quinn, driving a 1990 Nissan GTR, was second for most of the rally and maintained the pressure on the Supaloc Racing team for the entire rally, only to suffer a gut-wrenching mechanical failure within sight of the finish line, subsequently recording a DNF.

“We started the day with a 19-second lead and by the time we got to the last stage, we were leading by 34 seconds,” Weeks said. “We had push all day long though, because Quinny matched some of our stage times and he wasn’t letting go. We couldn’t back off, or he would have beaten us.

“Quinny drove his backside off for the whole three days and his turbo expired on the last three corners of the last stage. He would have been first in the Contemporary Classic class and second outright and he ended up with nothing. I feel so upset for him because he really pushed us all the way.”

Weeks also praised the Supashock Suspension as instrumental in his victory.

“The Supashock Suspension was the defining factor, no question,” he said. “There was one stage where there were about seven esses and camber changes in a row, and we just went flat out through them in fourth gear. My co-driver Toni said at the end of the stage ‘you have a lot of confidence in these shocks, don’t you?’ which was an understatement because we were almost out of control. The shocks were just awesome,” Weeks concluded.
