Kevin Weeks is quietly confident of a good showing in the 2011 Supaloc Classic Targa Adelaide after setting the equal third-fastest time in today’s official prologue at Tanunda in the Barossa Valley.

Despite adopting a conservative approach for the prologue, Weeks was just three seconds away from the fastest runner, Tolley Challis.

The times in the prologue are not included in the overall times for the event, but they are used to determine the order in which the competitors will tackle the competitive stages, beginning tomorrow. Nevertheless, Weeks was happy with today’s outcome.

“We didn’t push too hard because you can’t win the event on the prologue,” Weeks said. “I’m comfortable with the car, although we had a little bit of understeer.”

“The roads were very slippery,” Supaloc Racing Technical Director Oscar Fiorinotto added. “We’ll make some changes to the car overnight, and do what we need to do to give Kevin a comfortable car.”

The competitive action all starts tomorrow, with eight stages to be held across a total of 67 kilometres.
