Kevin Weeks and Dale Moscatt are less than 24 Hours away from taking on the southern hemisphere's most prestigious tarmac rally, Targa Tasmania, in the Supaloc Racing Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera.

Weeks and Moscatt have spent many hours doing reconnaissance of Targa Tasmania's challenging stages, and the team has also done some thorough testing of the Lamborghini at South Australia's Mallala circuit.

After a disappointing run in last year's event (the Supaloc Lamborghini retired from the race after an engine problem), everyone is keen to bounce back in the strongest possible fashion… by winning the event outright. With 2011 being the 20th anniversary of Targa Tasmania, victory in this year's event would be even more highly valued than usual.

As always, Kevin Weeks and Dale Moscatt will be supported by the experienced team of Supaloc Racing technicians, headed up by Technical Director Oscar Fiorinotto.

While there have been no changes to the Lamborghini since its last event, Targa Wrest Point, Fiorinotto stresses that the team members have been extremely thorough in their preparation of the car to ensure it runs reliably for the duration of the event.

“We have been through every single area of the car with a fine-tooth comb,” Fiorinotto said. “Every single component has been checked, double checked and triple checked. Absolutely nothing has been left to chance.”

Weeks and Moscatt will face tough competition from the likes of Jason and John White (also in a Lamborghini), eight-time winner Jim Richards (Porsche 911 GT2), Dick Johnson (Corvette), Steve Glenney (Mazda RX8) and Tony Quinn (Nissan GTR).

The official prorogue for the event commences at midday tomorrow at George Town, with times in the prorogue used to determine the starting order for the first stage on Wednesday.
