Kevin Weeks has qualified fourth for Round 1 of the Australian GT Championship at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide today. The result is Weeks' best so far in the Supaloc Racing Lamborghini Gallardo GT3.

After running seventh-fastest on combined times in the two practice sessions, Weeks improved his lap time by over two seconds in the 45-minute qualifying session, ultimately setting a time of 1:24.1, just 0.3 of a second slower than polesitter Klark Quinn in the Mosler.

“It was a great performance by the team, because the car was just brilliant,” an elated Kevin Weeks said after the session. “It just kept on hanging on; every time you pushed harder, it just stuck to the track.”

“We're using Supashock Suspension in the car this weekend and the Supashocks were just amazing. I've never experienced grip like that before.
“Through the chicane, I've been able to take a lot of kerb, and the car has been balanced and settled when it has come down thanks to the suspension being so well sorted.
“After practice, I was aiming for a mid-1:24 lap time, so I exceeded my expectations, and I got baulked on my fast lap as well, so I reckon we could have even done a high 1:23, but I'm absolutely delighted. I'm thrilled with the team; all the boys have done a marvellous job with the preparation of the car.”

The attention of Weeks and the Supaloc Racing team now turns to preparing for the one-hour race tomorrow evening.

“The plan is to stay out of trouble – it's a long race, so anything can happen,” Weeks concluded.
