Fastest classic team up the track today was that of Glenny & Lang in a 81 Holden Commodore sedan with a time of 2.01.05 followed by Wilson & Dorman in a TR7 Triumph, Sims & Sims in a 89 Skyline GTR and Weeks and Crunkhorn in a time of 2.08.3.
Tomorrow with temperatures forecast for 43 degrees will see the race for championship glory commence in ernest. The teams will race across the Adelaide Hills through Upper Hermitage, Paracombe, Chain of Ponds, Gumeracha, Baroosa Valley, Forreston, Kersbrook and Castambul.
"The expected temperature brings in a new parameter to the event" explained head engineer Oscar Fiorinotto.
"Cabin temperatures will soar and although we have added additional ducting to attempt to move further air within the car it's definitely going to be a tough day for both Kevin and Bec".
The team has two service crews that will meet with the car at various stages throughout the day for routine maintenance and refueling. The service crews carry a great deal in the way of spareparts and equipment (plus cold drinks) as what will exactly be required is unknown. Great planning goes into this side of the event as the cars are standing still for only short periods and are required to be at the start of stages at allocated times or will recieve a time penalty.
